Charlie's Gardening Neighbours - (1)
| Programme 1
Charlie Dimmock presents this new gardening series from Chapel
Lane, Crick, in Northamptonshire. She guides six sets of neighbours
through the stresses and strains of transforming their uninspiring
plots into designer gardens.
In the first programme, four of the neighbours get started
on their designs, which range from traditional cottage to
authentic Japanese. Charlie provides the inspiration whilst
local landscaper John Sanders gets all the stress and grief! |

Unlike Ground Force, there are no colourful design sketches from
Alan Titchmarsh in this new gardening series. Computer Aided Design
images illustrate how the finished gardens should look. Michelle
Morley's garden is to be two circular lawns, separated by an arbour
with large leafed plants to create structure. All these gardens
will have a Charlie Dimmock water feature!
There's no Ground Force team on hand, and no building work from
Tommy Walsh either. It's a real case of Do It Yourself. The budget
for each garden was £4000, of which £1000 had to be
spent on plants. John Sanders, (project manager, pictured below)
renamed the street Grief Street because of all the complaining and
moaning. Allan and Deborah Flint's garden will have a bark covered
area for their children and fabric sails on a post to provide shade.
The pictures below show John and Cynthia Marson's proposed Japanese
garden, plus Fiona Nolan ( who spotted the BBC's advert in a local
shop) and the computer's portrayal of her traditional garden. The
trellis will provide privacy and break up the long, narrow plot.
