Thanks to visitor Chris Twyman for the six images of Charlie he took at Gardeners' World Live 2001.
Also to visitor Mike Child for the picture below, taken at Whiteley Shopping Village, near Fareham, May 2005. Mike is a keen musician and, like Charlie, he is a keen horticuluralist. He now has his own website where you can listen to his music tracks.

Mike Child and Charlie Dimmock

Charlie gets a helping hand!

Mike has been a regular contributor to these pages and is an ardent Charlie fan. This is what he had to say about his encounter with Charlie - " We were at the Whiteley Shopping Village, near Fareham, having found out a week previously that Charlie would be appearing as part of their home and garden event. At about 11:30 she held a really entertaining gardeners' workshop where people asked her various gardening related questions.  She really is a good speaker, and comes across so well.  About an hour or so later, we went searching for her, and took this lovely picture that you see above.  And that wasn't the first thing that happened, either!  Oh no!  When we arrived, she signed my 'Enjoy Your Garden' book for me, and wrote, 'To Mike, all the best, Love, Charlie Dimmock'. It has to be said, I always get a little self-conscious when I'm meeting a hero of mine.  I had some difficulty in thinking what I should say to her, but, in any case, that warm, friendly and approachable personality of hers came across as it always does.  What a great day!" Some of Mike's memorabilia signed by Charlie.
