Charlie's Gardening Neighbours - (2)

To see enlarged pictures click on any the "picture strips" below

Programme 2 introduces two new garden layouts. All six gardens will have a Charlie Dimmock water feature, of course! David Jones describes his plot as a bloke's garden that will include a large pond and multi-level decking (see computer generated design below), plus a pergola, barbecue and bar area. The 8 ft x 5 ft pond will be 4 ft deep and house sturgeon, carp and tench. There are to be at least 15 light sources in the pond, over the pergola and the bar, and amongst the plants.

Alistair Truscott's garden, pictures 3 and 4 above, is to have a Scandinavian look as his mother married a Finn and now lives in Finland. The plot will have lots of rock and gravel, low growing alpines, a fence made of woven wooden slats and a scooter port with a sedum covered roof. The slate edged pond will have a mist making device to resemble a natural spa. Lighting will be by blue glass lights in metal cones.

The picture below shows the sort of shot that endears Charlie to men world-wide (!), plus ongoing work on John and Cynthia Marson's Japanese Tea House

Charlie chose plants for the new gardens, unbeknown to the householders. Michelle Morley's circular lawns are taking shape and Charlie's birthday sees a surprise party, complete with birthday cake. When is Charlie's birthday? Find out by visiting the Frequently Asked Questions page. Programme 3 sees the first real tensions as the workload for the residents increases, and delivery problems test people's patience to the limit.
